Creme Eggs – get ‘em while stocks last!

Friday, March 26th, 2010

I was in a shop last night buying some chewing gum when the man behind the counter asked me if I would like a Creme Egg with my purchase.  I had to smile to myself, because little did he know that we work with Cadbury and in fact have an ample supply of Creme Eggs at the ready to send to goo-loving journalists on request (only those who plan to write about them, mind!)

I was very impressed at his sell though, especially because there are only nine days left until the end of this year’s Goo Season, after which we will have to wait until New Year’s Day 2011 for the factory to start producing again.  Gooo! – I mean booo!

As Easter Sunday approaches, the nation is getting their goo fill in every which way possible:  Creme Egg’s first ever iPhone app – Scramble the Egg –  recently shot into the UK free app download charts at number one with an incredible 400,000 downloads at the iPhone* store.  Creme Egg’s online games have proven ‘egg-stremely’ popular with approximately 130,000 unique users visiting www.cremeegg.com a month and the online competition has had nearly 161,000 entries to date.

In addition to Scramble the Egg – an interactive app which invites users to shake a virtual Creme Egg around the screen, until the egg becomes so excited it bursts its goo all over the screen – a second app, called Egg Marks the Spot, encourages people to visit one of 38 landmarks in the UK and Ireland, including Edinburgh Castle and the London Eye. This app uses the iPhone’s GPS to guide people to their nearest landmark, where they must use their camera phone to take a picture of the landmark.  A Creme Egg is then superimposed over the picture and users can move it around the screen.

Both apps are free to download and – unlike the cheeky little fellows themselves – will continue to be available at www.apple.com long after the factory belt has come to a halt.  Goo’d news! To join in the fun go to www.cremeegg.com for plenty more games and your chance to win daily prizes.   And remember, your country needs goo!

Cider hit by Budget tax hike

Cider under threat?

The power of Facebook has come into its own again following Darling’s Budget which imposed a tax duty increase of 10% above inflation on stronger ciders from Sunday. By 8am today (26 March) 30,000 people had joined the Leave Our Cider Alone Facebook group to protest because the stronger cider is generally the locally-sourced stuff, not the big brands which are highly visible in the on- and off-trade. There’s a great piece in The Independent on the subject, which is worth reading too.

Even though I rarely drink cider I have joined the group, and I urge others to do the same, because this proposal has the potential to cripple one of England’s oldest, traditional industries. Join the group and sign the Downing Street petition today!

Elite model look comes to London

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

Look out for elite model look which launches this week.  Thousands of hopefuls will compete over the coming months aiming to be selected as the face of elite 2010.  The winner will follow in the perfect footsteps of the likes of Cindy Crawford and Gisele Bundchen.  Many of our clients are getting involved in various ways and in terms of targeted consumer engagement, it’s a winner.

The elite approach is holistic: the Food Doctor is on hand to promote the idea of a healthy body image and lifestyle and there will even be some sort of ‘A-Z guide to London masterclass’ to help contestants who have to date only seen London through tourist eyes to navigate the capital, which will host the UK final in July.
