Two of the UKâs most prestigious shopping destinations have recently unveiled their summer window displays â the focal point of both being iconic Vespa scooters. Westfield London and Selfridges Manchester have chosen models from the bright and colourful 2010 Vespa range, including the Vespa LX in pretty pink and glamorous baby blue. Selfridges Manchester opted for the pink and baby blue scooters to form a display themed around summer pastels. Westfield London selected three Vespas as the centre piece of an Italian-themed window display in the Village area of the mall. We’ve negotiated for the scooters to be on display throughout June and July, during which time they will be seen by the thousands of fashion-conscious shoppers that pass through each day. Make sure you head down to either destination to get a sneak peak of these gorgeous scooters in the flesh!

The results are in and itâs conclusive: smelly commuters really are the worst travelling companions. In a study we commissioned on behalf of PopCap.com, 1,564 UK adults were asked what their biggest bugbears were on their commute to work and their less than fragrant fellow passengers came out top! People talking loudly on their mobile phones came in a close second on the âmost irritatingâ list with over half of those surveyed finding this annoying. As if any proof were needed that we’re living in a digital age, itâs mobile gaming that seems to be stealing time from traditional books and newspapers. Over a quarter of Brits aged 16-24 play games on a mobile device to pass the time on journeys, compared to just 11% ten years ago.
The story has been picked up by a wide variety of media, including The Independent, Guardian and Daily Telegraph. With the weather hotting up at last, let’s hope commuters are stocking up on deodorant this weekend!
Home is where the Art is at Bristol
Wednesday, May 19th, 2010News just in â yet another visitor record was smashed again this year when more than 7,000 visitors passed through the doors of the Affordable Art Fairâs Bristol event last weekend. Final sales figures are still being tallied, but are looking strong, and up on the 2009 fair. We were down there on Thursday doing our bit to help with the set-up, and fielding the media who were clamouring to interview Nicky Wheeler, the Fair director.
Everyone from gallery owners, fair assistants, radio crews, and newspaper journalists were all bustling around doing their thing â painting stands, moving artworks and conducting interviews. Meanwhile we were hard at work putting up our ever-growing press coverage wall⦠upping the ante each fair isn’t easy!
Now Bristol may be much smaller in scale than the London AAFs, but it’s perfectly formed and a key date in the local arts calendar.  So if you didnât make this one, check out the AAF website for the next instalment of the original and best affordable art event.
