Searcys Summer Season

Pink Champagne heralds the start of summerThe very first Gala Dinner of the Searcys Summer Season took place last night and what a night it was! Lanson were the first to hold one of four Gala Dinners at the St Pancras Grand restaurant, each hosted by a different Champagne House. Head chef Chris Dines served up an incredible three course meal matched to the different Lanson Champagnes, including Lanson Black Label, Lanson Extra Age, Lanson Gold Label vintage 1999 and Lanson Rosé Label.

There are three more Gala Dinners to come with Champagne Houses Pommery, Mumm and Veuve Clicquot and it’s definitely one to put in the diary if the first was anything to go by. As well as the beautiful food and Champagne, we were treated to an expert tutorial from the head of the Lanson Champagne House, Enguerrand Baijot, who took time out from working in the winery to impart his expert knowledge.

As our glasses were topped up throughout the evening and delicious food presented in front of us, it was clear to see why the Searcys Champagne Bars are the first and foremost authority when it comes to Champagne and good food.

My Nordic walking debut

Tuesday, June 22nd, 2010

I read an article in Metro a few weeks ago about the latest fitness craze – Nordic Walking.  This latest craze to take the UK by storm was described as something vaguely Pythonesque as the journalist got to grips of the walking technique which uses poles to increase the calories you burn whilst walking by up to 40%.  On the back of the article nordicwalking.co.uk were offering £5 taster sessions so I thought I’d give it a go.

With the jokes from my husband and brother-in-law ringing in my ears, I rocked up to Richmond Park a little dubious about what to expect.  I was met by some other nervous-looking newbies who had also been tempted by the Metro article, a few experienced Nordic Walkers and our friendly instructor, Elin Sandal (who discovered the delights of Nordic Walking whilst training for a marathon).  Armed with hiking poles, we set off dragging our poles behind us trying to copy the movements of those in the know who had stormed off ahead at a real lick!  Self-conscious in their wake, we quickly got into the swing of things and were soon marching through herds of deer into the depths of the Park.

Our taster session was only supposed to last 45 minutes but we returned to our starting point an hour and a half later feeling like we had got real value for money.  I was surprised by how much of a workout I had undergone and how relaxed I felt.  I resolved there and then to set up a regular class with Elin and a few of my mates after work once a week.

NEED A SHOT OF INSPIRATION?

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

Following a piece of research we did last year, where we asked clients past and present what they really value about working with us, we’ve developed a new brainstorming proposition to help you find creative ways of tackling your toughest challenges.  Clients told us that our creativity and commercial acumen, coupled with our focus on delivering tangible results, really set us apart, and that the ideas we generate make a real difference to their business.  As well as offering this brainstorming service to current clients, we’ve also run sessions for people who we’re not currently retained by (it’s an affordable way of putting us through our paces and getting something useful in return – what’s not to like?).

After a recent brainstorm with our new client Searcys, Michelle Cartwright, general manager of the St Pancras Grand & Westfield Champagne Bars, said, “Focus PR hosted an innovative, dynamic, fun brainstorming session at St Pancras. The team was energetic, positive and extremely sassy and the results are a resourceful, imaginative, vibrant campaign to ensure St Pancras is an iconic trend leader within the Champagne world.”
