Inspirational press launch of new Orrefors by Karl Lagerfeld collection

Tuesday, June 7th, 2011
It is not every day that the media throng goes into shameless jaw-dropping mode.

Over the years I have seen journalists underwhelmed, bored, disinterested and mildly engaged, but this Tuesday they couldn’t help themselves. They reacted, I guess, as the general public would if Karl Lagerfeld walked into the room.

We were in Paris for the unveiling of the new Orrefors by Karl Lagerfeld collection. The new Orrefors collection of stemware and limited edition pieces will be in Harrods from September. I, for one, will be splurging in my bid to acquire a set of the Champagne coupes and the large flat bowl at the very least.

Karl Lagerfeld has the aura I thought he would have. And his designs, combined with the exquisite craftsmanship of the Orrefors master glassblowers in Smaland, Sweden, have created glass and a memory that I and the media who were lucky enough to attend the launch will never forget.

The Affordable Art Fair returned to Bristol for its annual visit last week, and welcomed thousands of visitors and buyers through its doors.  Fair director, Nicky Wheeler, found the time to do lots of media interviews, appearing on several local radio stations as well as featuring on ITV West Country’s TV news bulletin.  Check out the footage here.

New Year predictions: warmer front coming in

Friday, January 7th, 2011

The next twelve months will be a mix of sun, cloud, wind, snow, rain and balmy weather.  Can’t tell you what will happen or when, or what will dominate, but we can be pretty sure there will be some of everything.

So let’s be optimistic.  Here’s to lots of sun and balmy weather, with the occasional breeze and snowflake for contrast, and the odd drop of rain to make our trees and fields green and help our crops grow.
