I’ve ‘attended’ a couple of webinars recently as part of looking into their efficacy as a tool for us to reach out to clients and journalists and I’d be really interested in others’ views on the subject. My conclusions are mixed. Yes, they can be useful and it’s an easy way to garner information from experts and ask questions without leaving your desk. However, I struggled to stay focused on them when surrounded by the hubbub of the office and with emails popping up as I listened (and no doubt those sitting next to me were pretty irritated to have the webinar on in the background – note to self: buy headphones!).
As with any event or activity, you need to choose your audience carefully, pick the right subject, schedule it at the right time and take on board feedback. I think it’s worth exploring further as a format for us to use alongside live events and other communications tools, but please do let me know what you think.
I’d be particularly interested to hear from the client community about whether or not you’d like to ‘attend’ Focus PR webinars which might be of use to you and your business. Subjects could include social media, crisis management, a guide to the new media landscape…or anything else you suggest! Please do get in touch.
