Over the years I have seen journalists underwhelmed, bored, disinterested and mildly engaged, but this Tuesday they couldnât help themselves. They reacted, I guess, as the general public would if Karl Lagerfeld walked into the room.
We were in Paris for the unveiling of the new Orrefors by Karl Lagerfeld collection. The new Orrefors collection of stemware and limited edition pieces will be in Harrods from September. I, for one, will be splurging in my bid to acquire a set of the Champagne coupes and the large flat bowl at the very least.
Karl Lagerfeld has the aura I thought he would have. And his designs, combined with the exquisite craftsmanship of the Orrefors master glassblowers in Smaland, Sweden, have created glass and a memory that I and the media who were lucky enough to attend the launch will never forget.
